A dressing room isn’t just a place to store clothes—it’s a sanctuary. A space where luxury meets functionality, offering both beauty and purpose in equal measure. At Ixia London, we recently completed a bespoke dressing room that’s a true reflection of this philosophy. Every element, from the refined wood and brass accents to the soft, textured panels, has been thoughtfully crafted to create a serene, elevated space where you can get ready in style.
Designing such a space requires intentionality, balancing form with function. It’s not just about creating a beautiful room, but about ensuring that it fits your lifestyle and personal needs. Here’s a closer look at how we brought this dressing room to life, and our key steps to help you create the perfect space of your own.

1. Assess Your Needs
The first step to a successful dressing room design is understanding what you truly need. Do you prefer hanging clothes or keeping them neatly folded? Do you want your shoes on display or hidden away? Start by clearing out your wardrobe—this process often reveals what you actually use and love, helping to define your space. Working with experts like Styling L.A.B and The Calm Home Company can also help you streamline your wardrobe, ensuring every piece serves a purpose in your newly designed space.

2. Plan Your Storage & Layout
Once you know what you need, the next step is to plan your storage and layout. This is where measuring everything (in centimeters, no less!) comes into play. Consider how you want to store your items: do you prefer hanging jeans or folding them? Do you need dedicated sections for accessories or sportswear? The more precise your measurements, the better your design will be. Think about your organizational style and how you want your clothing and accessories to flow throughout the space.

3. Bespoke Joinery & Materials
When it comes to designing a dressing room, bespoke joinery is key. Working with specialists like Felicity Interiors ensures you get exactly what you envision. Choosing materials that work with your home’s tone and aesthetic is crucial—seeing samples in the space is essential to get the right feel. For example, in this project, we used ‘Suit Yourself’ wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries London to line the wardrobe inserts. The material adds a touch of elegance and softness to the space, elevating the entire design with its subtle pattern and texture.

4. Lighting Matters
Good lighting is essential in a dressing room. Not only does it make it easier to see your wardrobe selections, but it sets the mood of the space. Internal lighting within wardrobes ensures you can see everything clearly, while soft overhead lighting adds a warm, inviting glow. The pendant light in this project, ‘Blossom’ by Porta Romana, creates a beautiful focal point. Its soft, sculptural form complements the elegance of the room, while its gentle illumination adds a serene ambiance that is both functional and aesthetic.

5. Finishing Touches
It’s often the smallest details that make the biggest impact. In this dressing room, we focused on the handles, trims, and accents to create a seamless flow. All of the handles were sourced from Joseph Giles whose refined designs perfectly matched the space’s sophisticated vibe. By using matching metals throughout, we created a cohesive and harmonious design that flows effortlessly from one element to the next.
